Remand suspect Tornado Cash extended by 90 days
On August 24th the Den Bosch District Court held a session regarding the pre-trail detention of the suspect.
The courts chamber consisted of three judges, they heard the public prosecutor on the investigation and the suspicion. They also heard the defense. Afterwards the court decided to extend the pre-trial detention of the suspect by 90 days.
The man was arrested on 10 August. He is suspected of involvement in concealing criminal money flows and facilitating money laundering by offering the Ethereum mixing service Tornado Cash on the internet as a service. The suspicion is that the suspect, together with others, made it possible to conceal the origin, destination and ownership of more than 1 billion in criminally acquired crypto-currency through the use of the mixer.
