Public Prosecution Service may remain disrupted for the coming weeks
The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service (OM) may remain disconnected from the internet for several more weeks. On Thursday evening 17 July the OM's digital environment was disconnected from the internet, following an alert received by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) regarding a potential vulnerability in Citrix NetScaler. This system is used to provide users access to the office environment.
A thorough analysis of the OM digital environment has provided reason to believe that this potential vulnerability has indeed been exploited. An investigation and analysis of the potential vulnerability is currently underway. The solution to the disruption is complex and will take time. It is not yet clear how long this will take. In the coming period, and where forensic investigation allows, it will be assessed step by step which digital systems can be safely restarted. In the meantime, OM employees can only log in at OM locations, and are not reachable via email
